Salt Lake Area Pinballers http://www.slapleague.com The Official Site of the SLAP Pinball League Mon, 11 Dec 2017 18:12:40 +0000 en-US hourly 1 https://wordpress.org/?v=4.9.4 2017 IFPA Utah State Championship http://www.slapleague.com/2017-ifpa-utah-state-championship/ Mon, 11 Dec 2017 18:12:40 +0000 http://www.slapleague.com/?p=202

Coming up on January 20, 2018, the 2017 Utah IFPA State Championship will be held. This is the second year we’ve been able to hold this tournament, and we’re excited about how many more people participated in qualifying events through SLAP. 2017’s championship is going to be held at Kiitos Brewing, which is just outside of downtown Salt Lake City (608 West 700 South, Salt Lake City, UT  84104). Tentative start time is 11:00am. While we haven’t finalized our game list yet, we will have that  information available ahead of the event.

The top 16 players in the state will play for the championship in a series of best of 7 head to head, single elimination match ups. Current standings can be found here: https://www.ifpapinball.com/rankings/custom_view.php?id=183

There is still one event left to earn points this year, so rankings can still change a bit. Once the top 16 is settled, we will confirm attendance. If any of the top 16 choose not to attend, the 17th position will move up. This will continue until all 16 positions are filled and attendance is confirmed.

Winner of the state championship will earn a place at the IFPA National Championship.

Our first pingolf event, Caddyslap, was such a hit that we’re doing it again! Gopher Ball will take place on Friday, March 17th at Jeff Rivera’s house in Kaysville.

Pingolf is different from a regular pinball competition. Instead of playing for high scores, competitors play to complete objectives that vary by machine. Each objective is assigned a “par” score, and each ball counts as a stroke. After each hole has been played, strokes are added up and the player with the lowest total wins.

Practice starts at 3:00pm and the official start will be at 5:00pm. For directions to the location, email slapleagueinfo@gmail.com. If you are currently receiving emails from SLAP, you will automatically receive the details for Gopher Ball and any upcoming events.
